Financial aid

Each year, Le Gymnase provides support to more than 250 students, distributing over €350,000 in direct and indirect financial aid.

The Gymnase recognizes that the financial burden can sometimes be heavy for families. Our school is particularly committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder students’ education or their participation in all the educational activities offered by the school.

Below you will find a complete overview of the financial aid options available for the International track :

Government aid (national scholarships and socials funds)

At a private school under contract such as Le Gymnase, families may be eligible for public financial aid, which is available exclusively for classes under contract; families in the BISS program are therefore not eligible for this funding. The amounts and eligibility criteria for this aid are set by the government and are means-tested.

A notice regarding all these programs is sent to families in mid-September. Families submit an application, which is reviewed by the Strasbourg School District and a committee.

  • National Scholarships for high school are awarded based on parents’ taxable income. This is financial aid paid quarterly to the family to help cover the cost of schooling. For high school and middle school, the application period opens in mid-September, with applications due by mid-October.

More than fifty students receive aid each year, totaling nearly €50,000.

  • Social funds provide more one-time assistance than national scholarships. They are designed to help families cope with temporary financial difficulties, facilitate access to school meals, or support participation in educational activities (field trips, school trips). The application period runs from mid-September to mid-October.

More than fifty students receive assistance each year, totaling nearly €10,000.

  • For high school students: a meal subsidy from the Grand Est Region offering a €0.80 discount per meal is available.

Le Gymnase aid (internal)

In addition to government assistance, Le Gymnase has established comprehensive internal support programs for families. This assistance is available to all students, regardless of their grade level or academic track. All students—from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as those in the BISS program—are therefore eligible for support and assistance. This assistance is granted following a review of the application by an internal school committee.

  • Annual Charge Reduction: Upon review of the application, fees may be reduced.
  • The “Bourse du Chapitre” Scholarship is a financial aid fund established with the support of the Saint-Thomas Foundation. It provides mostly one-time assistance for the cafeteria and for ancillary costs related to schooling or academic support. The application period begins after the fall break, with a deadline in late November. This initiative specifically helps families who have not received assistance from the state’s social welfare fund.

More than 70 applications are reviewed each year, and over 50 students receive assistance, with an average grant of €250.

  • The Internal Solidarity Fund is financed by funds raised through donation drives, primarily during the “Olympiades de la Solidarité.” The application period begins after the fall break and ends in late November. This fund helps support students with projects that can be costly, such as school trips abroad.

Each year, about twenty applications are submitted, three-quarters of which are approved for an average amount of over €600.

  • school meal cost assistance program supported by Le Gymnase’s founders is being offered this year. A dedicated fund of an additional €15,000 to help cover meal costs is available to families facing financial difficulties.
