On November 9, students in 3e4 BISS spent the day in the Vosges to learn more about the secondary front that was there in World War I. We toured the Centre d’Interprétation 1914-1918, in association with ‘Guerre en Vosges’ in Celles-sur-Plaine, and then visited 2 sites: a German fortification and a French/American site. At the American site, we looked at engraving that French and Americans troops made in 1918. Guerre en Vosges gave the students the opportunity to look for additional hidden engravings. The class uncovered new names, and we are currently researching to find out who the men are that carved their names 100 years ago.
